From time to time, one of our colleagues was getting this error:


(sorry, this error message is in Dutch, but I think it must be something as "unsufficient resources to complete this task" in English)

We have spent hours searching for this problem. Reinstalling Office, enabling/disabling plugins, Windows safe-mode, etc, etc, ...

We findly found the cause of this stupid error message ...Windows Explorer Preview Pane! This pane provides a quick preview on Excel documents in Windows Explorer. Our colleagues were using this option, but as of very large Excel files, Excel seems to be crashing on this issue.

Conclusion:
It's very import to hide this pane :-)

Changing the time/clock in a Citroen C3 (2006)

My girlfriend always asks me: how to change the clock in my Citroen C3 car?
I must say, the user interface is so complicated, that even with a manual, I still don't succeed to do it myself.

This is the trick;

  • Press Menu
  • Use the up/down button and look for Reg. weergeven - I'm sorry, I have no idea what this is an English car
  • Press OK
  • Use the up/down button and look for Uren (hours) or Minuten (minutes), but do NOT press left/right arrow key or NOT the OK button, as this action will leave the configuration menu
  • Wait 2 seconds, and you will be able to change hours and minutes (separately) by using the left/right arrow keys
  • Press OK to confirm

Happy to have written this down for myself! :-). Hopefully, I can help somebody else with this stupid problem!

Adding DYMO LabelWriter 400 as network printer on DYMO Label 8.3

So, we have been using the LabelWriter 400 for a long time as network printer in combination of DYMO Label 7.6. But as of version 8.3, we were not able to connect to the network printer. When I installed the latest version, it never asked me where my network printer was (it asked me in the 7.6 version!).

When I started the DYMO Label software, I was getting this error:

This program requires a Dymo Printer. Please reinstall your printer driver.

After clicking OK, the program immediately shutted down, so I was not able to configure a network printer.

The trick is ...

  • browse to the computer which has the LabelWriter shared using Windows Explorer. It's very important to use the Netbios name. Don't use the IP as this will not work! E.g.: \\192.168.1.2\DYMO will not work -- \\SERVER\DYMO will work
  • find your DYMO printer in the list
  • right click on it, and select Connect...
